Story Idea 2
One summer night during the month of July, Jane and her friends had just arrived at Jane's aunts' summer cabin for a girls night. Jane's aunt Suzie was heading out of town for the night and asked Jane to stay with her two dogs at the cabin for the night. Easily agreeing to the task, Jane quickly invited her friends, Sarah, Katie, Ashley, and Trina. These girls were always up for a girls night at the cabin to watch some movies and talk all night. Shortly after arriving at the cabin the girls settled in to watch their first movie of the night but something just didn't seem right. The dogs were acting rather skittish and weird noises seemed to be coming from outside all around the house. After watching the first movie something goes terribly wrong and someone begins to pound their fist on the outside of the cabin and the girls all freak. They knew that no one knew they were house sitting and that it was going to be a long night. With tear filled anxious eyes the girls all began to freak. The noises kept happening and the night had only began. Was someone messing with the girls or was someone really their to make their night one that will never be forgotten?

I love spooky stuff! I can't wait to read it!
ReplyDeleteI like the spooky as well -- but to be honest, I really like Sam's story -- you've given her both an internal conflict (her own anxiety) and an external one (her desire to perform well so she can run in college). The challenge will be compressing that season into a short story -- you won't be able to describe every meet in detail, especially if you want to leave room for anything else! So you'll need to balance narration (short chunks of telling) with the scenes you actually invite the reader into (the showing). A story like this could even focus on a single, key race....
